GM Adds Sales at ServNet Auctions

June 21, 2010

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — ServNet announced Monday that two of its auctions have been added as a General Motors and GMAC remarketing partners. With the additional locations, the companies will now sponsor sales at six ServNet auctions.

The two new locations are Brasher's Salt Lake Auto Auction and BSC America's Bel Air Auto Auction. They join Flint Auto Auction, State Line Auto Auction, Brasher's Idaho Auto Auction and Dealers Auto Auction of Oklahoma City.

"Over the past 12 months, General Motors and GMAC have undergone a wholesale reevaluation of their remarketing strategies, scrutinizing their auction outlets as well as the markets they represent," said Richard Curtis, ServNet's executive vice president of industry relations.

"We're pleased to report that GM and GMAC have added two additional ServNet auctions to their group of auction partners," he added.

Curtis went on to point out that over the past six years, ServNet auctions have received four top national rankings from GM:

—Idaho Auto Auction as Auction of the Year in 2004.

—State Line Auto Auction gained Operational Excellence in 2007.

—Flint Auto Auction as back-to-back winner of GM's Auction of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

"ServNet auctions consistently rank among the top-performing auctions for General Motors, the nation's largest institutional seller of vehicles in the wholesale market, and GMAC, the nation's largest financer of vehicles," Curtis pointed out.

Bel Air Auto Auction Named Top Performer for ARI

Bel Air, MARYLAND – Adding to a growing list of successes, BSC America’s Bel Air Auto Auction has been recognized as a top performer in 2009 for ARI. The auction was recently named ARI’s Auction of the Year for Region I.

Rewarding auctions for outstanding performance is an extension of ARI’s Partners in Excellence program that strives to produce high quality results through strong business relationships. Each auction is measured on overall market performance, administration and communication.  Benchmarking includes days to pickup, complete condition report, sell and receive funds as well as achievement against Blackbook Commercial Index and compliance with company guidelines.

Jennifer Schade, Vehicle Remarketing Manager for ARI indicated that this is the second year in a row that Bel Air Auto Auction has received the award from ARI, in spite of the fact that they were moved to a new region for 2009.

“We are both honored and thrilled to be recognized as one of ARI’s top auctions in the country for the second year running,” said Michelle Nichols-Neff, owner and vice president of Bel Air Auto Auction.  “We value our relationship with ARI and work hard to provide a level of service that surpasses expectations in all areas of auction sales and operations.”

“We also congratulate Brasher’s Northwest Auto Auction and Missouri Auto Auction, fellow ServNet-auctions who were also named ARI Auctions of the Year for their respective regions,” said Nichols-Neff, noting that ServNet auctions took three of the six top awards in this year’s Partners in Excellence Program.

Owned by Ray Nichols, R. Charles Nichols and Michelle Nichols-Neff, Bel Air Auto Auction manages the flow of more than 75,000 vehicles a year. Handling consignments from dealers and private business fleets as well as those from public service and government agencies, Bel Air Auto Auction sells on six auction lanes every Thursday. The auction is strategically located near I-95, just 17 miles from Baltimore and 80 miles from Philadelphia and provides a wide range of auto-related services, including floor planning, storage, transportation, Internet sales, full reconditioning, and certification.

BSC America Joins ServNet with Two Auction Locations

The ServNet Auction Group continues to expand, identifying the best independent auctions in the country to reach customers in all markets. Having recently added Pittsburgh Independent Auction to ServNet's roster, ServNet officials have announced that two BSC America facilities will join the network of premiere independent auto auctions: Bel Air Auto Auction in Maryland, and Tallahassee Auto Auction in Florida.
"ServNet's owners and board are very happy to join forces with BSC America. The Nichols family operates two top-notch auctions which fill strategic locations in ServNet's growing national footprint," said Keith Lelux, owner and managing partner of the Charleston Auto Auction and president of ServNet.
"The Nichols' are well-regarded in the industry, and we have long enjoyed our associations with them on various industry projects," noted Bob McConkey, Jr., president of DAA Northwest and ServNet's chairman of the board. "We look forward to working with them even more closely and know that they will bring a wealth of experience and insight to the ServNet forum."
Banking Services Corporation (BSC America), the parent company for both Bel Air Auto Auction and Tallahassee Auto Auction, was founded in 1980 by Raymond Nichols, an industry leader who served as NAAA president in 2002. In 1980, the family-run company acquired Bel Air Auto Auction, and, in 1993, bought the Tallahassee Auto Auction. Ray Nichols serves as Chairman of the Board for BSC America; his son, Charles Nichols, is the company's president, and his daughter, Michelle Nichols-Neff, is Vice President-Marketing.
"As we've watched ServNet's growth over the years, we've seen it develop into a wonderful group of auctions whose owners share ideas, services and networking opportunities," said Charles Nichols. "We're impressed with the auctions, with their owners, with their operations, and with the synergy in the group that evolves from shared best practices. We admire the ServNet auctions as a group and are delighted to include our auctions among them."
In addition to their responsibilities with BSC America, Charles Nichols and Michelle Nichols-Neff oversee the operations of Bel Air Auto Auction, one of the Mid-Atlantic's largest and most active auctions, which manages the flow of more than 75,000 vehicles a year. Handling consignments from dealers and private business fleets as well as those from public service and government agencies, Bel Air Auto Auction sells on six auction lanes every Thursday. The auction is strategically located on 50+ acres near I-95, just 28 miles from Baltimore and 80 miles from Philadelphia and provides a wide range of auto-related services, including floor planning, storage, transportation, Internet sales, full reconditioning, and certification.
Tallahassee Auto Auction has been dubbed "the Best Kept Secret in the South" by Florida's Independent Auto Dealer's Association (FIADA). Every Friday the auction offers a broad consignment inventory that includes cars, trucks, motorcycles, vans, boats and heavy equipment. The facility is situated just south of Florida's state capital and minutes from Tallahassee Regional Airport. General Manager, Ginger White, recognized as Auction Person of the Year 2005 by leaders of the FIADA, leads the auction team at Tallahassee Auto Auction, the fast growing auction in the region. Like its sister auction, Tallahassee Auto Auction provides a complete spectrum of auction services to serve the remarketing needs of the area's fleet, lease bank and finance companies.
